Our first blog newsletter 2009

Dear Parents, October 7, 2009

Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to read to the class. The children like to have others read to them. After spending these first few of weeks getting to know the children and seeing their diverse interests, we have decided that our first project will be about favourite books and storytelling.
Our project begins with the children sharing their favourite stories through retelling, using puppets, drawing, and dramatic play. This project may lead into performance, mask making, or writing classroom books. We will see where the children’s interest takes us. If you have ideas for possible field visits or experts who could come talk to our children please let us know.
We will be starting show and tell on the week of October 19th. We will go through the class list, one child per day. See attached calendars. To go along with our project topic we are asking children to bring their favourite book to share with the class on their show and tell day.
As you have noticed we have started using the prep gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please let us know if you have to pick up your child early on our gym days so we can help your child get ready. Otherwise please meet us back in the classroom at dismissal time.
We put an accumulation of your child’s artwork and projects in their shelves of their lockers. Please pick up their work on a regular basis. Thanks.
